App development company in Ireland for products that earn their keep

We build mobile apps for established Irish businesses — member apps, booking and portal apps, field-ops tools — designed to generate revenue, not just tick a box. Native or cross-platform, led by design, backed by a proper discovery phase and ongoing support.

Native & cross-platform

iOS, Android, or one Flutter / React Native codebase — chosen on merit, not off a price list.

Design-led products

The design credibility behind our portfolio, applied to what most developers treat as an afterthought.

Built to earn its keep

Member apps, booking portals and field tools — mobile products that generate revenue or save real hours.

What we mean by app development

We build custom mobile apps as long-term products for established Irish businesses – design-led, discovery-first, and quoted as a firm number once we know exactly what we're building.

App development isn't just writing code for a phone. It's the whole product: the discovery that decides what to build, the design that makes it usable, the engineering that makes it reliable, and the support that keeps it valuable after launch.

We build native apps (Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android) when performance, hardware access or platform feel matter, and cross-platform apps (Flutter or React Native) when one codebase across both is the smarter commercial call. Which one fits comes out of discovery, not off a price list.

We're best suited to apps that sit at the centre of how a business operates or earns: member and loyalty apps, booking and portal apps, field-service tools, and products that extend an existing service. Fewer, better apps built as long-term products, not one-off deliverables shipped and forgotten.

Who this is for

Not for a cheap, one-off 'build my idea' app – this is for businesses that need an app to earn its keep.

A member base

You have members or loyal customers, and an app would keep them close.

An operation to streamline

A booking, portal or field-service tool would strip real friction out of how you work.

A service to extend

You want to bring an existing service to mobile, with a real commercial reason behind it.

Why a well-built app is worth it

A good app changes how a business runs. A bad one does the opposite — which is exactly why the fundamentals matter.

Own your channel

A branded app puts you on the home screen, not buried in a marketplace, a search result or someone else's algorithm.

Cut the manual work

Bookings, portals and field tools replace the phone calls, spreadsheets and paperwork that quietly drain your team's week.

Design-led, not an afterthought

The same design credibility behind our portfolio, applied to something most developers treat as an afterthought.

Built for the outcome

Every decision is weighed against revenue, retention or hours saved — not just what looks good in a pitch.

What we deliver

A complete mobile product and the thinking behind it — not a handover of files and a good-luck email. Every engagement is scoped in discovery, but a typical build includes:

A proper discovery phase

User research, technical scoping and a validated feature roadmap before a line of production code is written.

Full product & UX design

Flows, wireframes and a polished interface, drawn from the design credibility behind our portfolio.

Native or cross-platform builds

Native iOS and Android, or one Flutter / React Native codebase across both — chosen on merit.

Backend, APIs & integrations

Payments, bookings, CRM and the systems you already run, wired in properly.

App Store & Google Play submission

Store listings and release handled and managed for you, start to finish.

Analytics & event tracking

So you can see what the app is actually doing for the business, not guess.

QA & real-device testing

Quality assurance across real handsets, not just a simulator.

Ongoing support & maintenance

A retainer for updates, OS changes, new features and a partner who stays.

Two ways to build an app

The usual app-factory way
  • Take on any project, churn it out
  • Design treated as an afterthought
  • Cheap quote, then billed by the hour
  • Ship it, then disappear
  • Built off a fixed price list
The Design Wave way
  • Take fewer projects and go deep
  • Design-led from the first day
  • One firm number after discovery
  • We answer the phone long after launch
  • Native or cross-platform, chosen on merit

Our process

  1. 1

    Discovery

We understand the business, the users and the commercial goal, then pressure-test the idea. You come out with a validated scope, a technical direction and a realistic estimate. If the app doesn't stack up commercially, we'll say so.

  2. 2

    Design

We design the full experience before we build it — flows, screens and an interface your users will enjoy. This is where our design-led approach earns its place and where expensive mistakes get caught cheaply.

  3. 3

    Build

We engineer the app in focused sprints with regular working builds in your hands, so you're never waiting until the end to see progress or steer it.

  4. 4

    Launch

We handle store submission, testing and release, then watch the analytics closely through the first weeks in the wild.

  5. 5

    Support

An app is never finished. We stay on as a partner — maintaining, improving and evolving the product as your business and the platforms change.

Why Design Wave

We're a Dublin studio that treats apps as products, not tickets. We take on fewer projects and go deeper on each — which is exactly why we're upfront about cost. That framing isn't there to put you off; it's there so the businesses we work with know we're a genuine product partner, not a €500 app factory.

What you get is design credibility applied to something most developers treat as an afterthought, a discovery phase that de-risks the spend, native or cross-platform engineering chosen on merit, and a studio still answering the phone long after launch. No fabricated case studies, no invented awards — just honest work you can see in our portfolio.

We treat every app as a long-term product, not a ticket to close – and we say no to work we can't do properly.

Frequently asked questions

How much does app development cost in Ireland?

It depends on scope — but to set expectations, a serious mobile product in Ireland typically runs from around €20,000 for a focused, well-built app to €120,000 or more for a complex platform with heavy integrations, multiple user types and native builds on both iOS and Android. We put a firm number on your project after discovery, once we understand exactly what needs to be built. If you're looking for a €500 'build my idea' app, we're not the right studio, and we'll say so early. You can see our broader approach on our pricing page.

How long does it take to build an app?

Most of the products we build take between three and nine months from discovery to launch, depending on complexity, the number of platforms and how many systems the app has to integrate with. We'd rather give you a realistic timeline after discovery than a hopeful one now. Rushed builds are where quality and budget both quietly disappear.

Should we build native or cross-platform (Flutter / React Native)?

It depends on the product. Native (Swift for iOS, Kotlin for Android) is the right call when you need maximum performance, deep hardware access or a platform-perfect feel. Cross-platform (Flutter or React Native) is often the smarter commercial choice when you want one codebase serving both iOS and Android at a lower total cost. We make that recommendation during discovery, based on your goals and budget — not on what's easiest for us to build.

Do you only build apps for big companies?

No — but we do build for established businesses that see an app as a genuine investment rather than a cheap experiment. Our clients are Irish organisations with a real commercial reason to build: a member base to serve, an operation to streamline, or a service to extend to mobile. If your app needs to earn its keep, we're a strong fit.

What happens after the app launches?

Launch is the start of the relationship, not the end. Apps need ongoing care — operating-system updates, new devices, security patches, and the improvements that come from watching how real users behave. We stay on through a support and maintenance retainer, so your product keeps working and keeps improving. You can talk through what that looks like for your project on a discovery call.
