AI that actually ships

Working automations and AI features that remove real cost and time — not slideware or strategy decks.

GDPR-compliant & Irish-supported

Built responsibly for Irish businesses, with a team you can actually reach when it matters.

From readiness to build

A paid AI strategy session that turns into a real, integrated solution — not a report that gathers dust.

AI that ships, not AI that gets talked about

Working software, not slideware – we build, integrate and support the AI ourselves, and settle GDPR before we write a line of code.

Most AI conversations in Ireland end in a strategy document and a bill. We work the other way round. Design Wave is a build studio, so when we say we'll automate your support queue or plug an AI assistant into your systems, we mean working software your team uses on Monday morning.

AI automation puts large language models to work on what your team does by hand today: answering repetitive questions, reading and sorting documents, drafting replies, and moving data between systems without someone remembering to. The important word is build — the gap between talking about AI and having an agent live in production is real, and closing it is the whole job.

We design the solution, connect it to your actual tools and data, test it against your edge cases, and put it in front of your team and customers — delivered, integrated, and measured against the cost it removes.

Who this is for

Not for anyone who just wants a strategy report to file away and forget.

Talked, not shipped

You've discussed AI for months, but nothing has gone live in the business.

Buried in manual work

A support queue, document sorting or data moving between systems eats your team's week.

AI in production, safely

You want AI live, working and GDPR-safe – not stuck in a pilot forever.

Why teams build their AI with us

A practical middle ground between consultancies that sell strategy and freelancers who wire up a bot and vanish.

Working software, not slideware

Our default output is a live, integrated automation your team uses — not a report that gathers dust.

GDPR-compliant by design

We settle lawful basis, data minimisation and what the model can retain before we write the integration, not after a complaint.

Readiness that becomes a build

A paid strategy session that turns into real, integrated software — with an honest plan you can trust either way.

Priced to the outcome

Every engagement is scoped to a real number: the cost or hours we're removing, so you judge the return, not the novelty.

What we deliver

Whatever the value calls for — every piece scoped to a real outcome, built and integrated under one roof.

Custom AI agents

Agents for support, sales qualification, internal helpdesks and guided workflows, with human hand-off built in.

AI chatbot development

Chatbots that live on your site or in your product, grounded in your real content rather than scripted decision trees.

Document & RAG assistants

Turn your policies, contracts, manuals and knowledge base into something staff and customers can query in plain English.

Business process automation

Connect your CRM, inbox, forms and line-of-business tools so routine, rules-based work runs itself.

LLM & API integration

Wire modern AI into your existing website, app or internal systems — cleanly and securely.

Custom AI apps & features

Built from the ground up when off-the-shelf tools don't fit the problem.

GDPR & governance guardrails

Data-handling decisions, access controls, logging and clear rules for what the AI can and can't do.

Handover, docs & support

Documentation and ongoing support so your team can run and trust what we've built.

Two ways to buy AI

The usual way
  • A strategy deck and a bill
  • A bot wired up, then they vanish
  • GDPR bolted on after a complaint
  • Priced by the hour or the novelty
  • AI someday, always someday
The Design Wave way
  • Working software you own and keep
  • Integrated, tested on your edge cases, supported
  • GDPR designed in before we build
  • Priced to the cost removed
  • An agent live Monday morning

How we work

  1. 1

    AI Readiness Session (paid)

A focused working session mapping your processes, data and systems to find where AI genuinely earns its keep. You leave with a prioritised plan and honest costings — whether or not you build with us.

  2. 2

    Scope & design

We turn the priority opportunity into a defined build: the outcome, the systems it touches, the data it uses, the guardrails, and how we'll measure success.

  3. 3

    Build & integrate

We develop the agent, assistant or automation and connect it to your real tools and data, testing against your genuine edge cases — not a demo dataset.

  4. 4

    Pilot & measure

We put it live in a controlled way, watch it perform against the cost or time it's meant to remove, and tune it.

  5. 5

    Roll out & support

Once it's earning, we widen it, document it and support it — expanding to the next opportunity when it makes sense.

Why Design Wave

Plenty of firms will sell you an AI strategy. Far fewer will hand you working software. As a Dublin design and build studio, our honest advantage is simple: we build and integrate the AI ourselves — the difference between a slide deck and a system your team actually uses. And if AI isn't the right tool for a problem, we'll tell you before you spend a euro on development.

AI builds sit at the higher-value end of our work because they remove real, recurring cost. Most engagements begin with a paid AI Readiness Session — a fixed, contained fee that delivers a costed roadmap on its own. From there, a first production automation is a defined project, not an open-ended retainer, so you can weigh the investment against the hours it's designed to remove before you commit.

If AI isn't the right tool, we'll tell you before you spend a euro – and when it is, we build it, integrate it and stand behind it.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an AI automation project cost in Ireland?

AI builds are priced to the outcome, not by the hour, and sit at the higher-value end of our work because they remove real, recurring cost. Most engagements begin with a paid AI Readiness Session — a fixed, contained fee that delivers a prioritised use-case shortlist and a costed roadmap on its own. From there, a first production agent or automation is a defined project rather than an open-ended retainer, so you can weigh the investment against the cost it removes before committing. Share your situation on our contact page and we'll give you a realistic range.

How long does it take to get an AI agent or automation live?

The readiness session and scoping happen in weeks, not months. A first, well-defined agent, chatbot or document assistant usually moves from scoped build to a measured pilot within a handful of weeks, depending on how many systems it touches and how clean your data is. We deliberately start with one high-value use case and prove it before expanding — rather than disappearing for six months and hoping.

Is this GDPR-compliant, and where is our data processed?

Yes — GDPR compliance is designed in from the start, not bolted on. Before we build an integration, we work through lawful basis, data minimisation, where data is processed, access controls, and what the model is permitted to retain. We'll be explicit about which providers and processing locations are involved for your specific build, and design for options that keep sensitive data appropriately controlled. If a use case can't be done compliantly, we'll tell you plainly.

We've only ever talked about AI. Is a build really realistic for us?

That's exactly who the AI Readiness Session is for. The gap between talking about AI and having it live in production is real, and it's the gap we close. In the session we look at your actual processes, data and systems and identify where AI genuinely earns its keep — and, just as importantly, where it doesn't. You come away with a clear plan whether or not you build with us, so there's no leap of faith to get started.

What's the difference between an AI chatbot and a RAG document assistant?

A chatbot handles conversation — answering questions, qualifying a lead or guiding someone through a process — and hands off to a human when it should. A RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) assistant is grounded in your own documents, so it answers using your policies, contracts, manuals or product data rather than the open internet. Many projects combine both: a conversational front end backed by your real knowledge. In the readiness session we work out which pattern fits the outcome you're after.
